Once again the benefits of having a dashcam (a dashboard mounted video camera that records images of your journies) installed in your vehicle are clear following a recent incident of apparent attempted insurance fraud on the A52 in Nottingham.
Elizabeth Aspey – who was driving – and passenger Jack Champion were travelling at night when completely out of the blue, a cyclist threw himself onto the road in front of their car, having made no contact at all with the vehicle. Despite this, the unidentified male cyclist simply lay in the road clutching his head, it what appeared to be an attempt to fake an injury to allow him to claim for compensation from Ms Aspey’s insurance company.
Having stopped, the cyclist was alerted to the fact that the whole incident had been captured by the dashcam. He initially approached the car in an aggressive manner, before thinking better of it and then quickly leaving the scene. At the time of writing, the cyclist has not yet been indentified.
