So you have had an accident, it was not your fault, you had to get medical attention and are now on the slow road to recovery. Should you even claim compensation? after all this whole compensation culture thingy, where people are causing your insurance premiums to rise by needlessly claiming compensation, whats happened to the good old british stiff upper lip?
Well you need to ask yourself has the accident that caused your personal injury affected your normal day to day life, your social life or even your work life? Did it damage any of your property? If it has and you are not back to 100% of the health you had prior to the accident, then yes you should claim, fear not though you will not be showered in millions of pounds of compensation, this is the Uk afterall and where if for example you were to lose an arm (i would rather not as it is pretty useful i would say) you are looking at £110k. Which is not actually that much when you think about it.
The general rule of thumb regarding working out how much compensation to pay you in the UK is fairly robust and logical, in that the courts have determined that point of compensation is to try and put you back to the position you were in prior to the accident, it is not there to be a financial windfall, you need to go over to America for that.
